An electric charging point for ultra-low emission taxis is being fitted in Bromley town centre.
The taxi rank in Elmfield Road will be the first location in Bromley to welcome the charging point. Two taxis will be able to charge at once.
Bromley will become the first borough in London after Westminster to install the newest charging point.
Councillor William Huntington-Thresher said: "We are seeing a revolution in motoring, with electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles becoming a common sight on our roads.
"The indications are that this trend will accelerate and we will see more and more residents and visitors wishing to take advantage of the latest technology and driving experience.
"We want to make sure we provide the infrastructure to enable residents to choose electric and hybrid vehicles should they so desire. We're mindful that technology can and does change, so we intend to balance charging points with demand across the borough, whilst not restricting residents' choice of fuel.
"We're monitoring usage at the installed sites. We expect the costs for EV sites to be borne car users or fuel providers not by council taxpayers."
Orpington Station is also expected to welcome a charging point shortly.
