The ten talented finalists are all hoping to be chosen as Bexley Young Musician of the Year 2018 have been announced.

The Bexley Young Musician of the Year Awards, promoted by the four Rotary Clubs in Bexley, will finish in a awards concert later this year.

The ten finalists - in no particular order - are: Townley Grammar School pupils Pippa Griffin, 17, Violin, and Oliver Hassan 18, Violin, Lily Knowles, 17, Clarinet, and Georgina Lloyd, 17, Flute, from Bexley Grammar School, Mia Chan, 13, Piano, and Alexander Lukov, 15, Piano, Luke Montgomery, 17, Alto Saxaphone, also on Saxaphone Trinity C of E School Belvedere pupil Harry Bulbrook, 17, Joshua Clarke, 15, from Habadashers Askes Crayford Academy playing Clarinet, and Piano Player Daniel Carstairs 17, from Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School.

The competition is open to pupils who live or study in Bexley. The finals will take place at the Townley Theatre, Townley Road, on Saturday March 3.

Each of the finalists will a cheque for £100, as well as a certificate, but the winner will also receive The Bexley Young Musician of the Year cup which will be held for two years.

Sidcup Rotarian Maurice Tripp said: "I have been mc. at this event for the past twenty four years. We always have a panel of distinguished judges and the standard of music is very high. It is good to know that we have so many talented young people in the Borough of Bexley".
