January doesn't have to be all doom and gloom, as one Blackfen couple found out.

Jan and Tony Griffiths were on their way to their granddaughters for dinner when they stopped into Londis in Blackfen Road to pick up a bottle to take with them.

It was not until they had made their way to their granddaughters that Tony had realised he had lost something.

Mrs Griffiths said: "Tony said he had lost his wallet. It had over £200 cash in it and all the usual stuff, his driving licence and what not.

"We drove back round to the Londis but it was shut - it was the only place we could think of we had been."

After a quick stop outside Londis and a search of the car, the couple headed home to Lyndon Avenue, wallet-less.

"When Tony opened the frond door, there was something underneath it. There was a plastic bag, his wallet with all the money in it, and a note."

Jan said two employees from Londis had dropped the wallet off, with a note saying: "We found this wallet in Londis. Hope you don't mind us dropping it in at this address as it is the one on the driving licence. Enjoy your gin! Lina and Becky."

Jan said her and Tony were thankful for the girls honesty, and their effort to return Tony's wallet.

"It wasn't nice weather, they didn't have to walk all the way back round here at night time.

"We didn't expect that. What with all the bad stuff you read, this shows that there are more nice people than bad. It's brilliant they did this for us, we can't thank them enough.

"It's just brilliant of them."

Jan, who has been married to Tony for 40 years, said they plan to go back to Londis to thank the girls for their honesty.
