Two towns in Bexley are in the top 10 hotspots for property, according to new data.

The data, revealed by Rightmove, shows asking prices are down for 1.4 per cent in a bid to tempt New Year buyers.

However, Sidcup has topped the chart for property hotspots, and has seen the biggest growth in Greater London in the past year, with property prices rising 8.3 per cent to £443,000 in January this year.

The average price in January last year was £408,445.

Erith is not far behind on the list, and is the second fastest growing area. Here, asking prices of £321,000 are almost half the London average.

Bexley consistently records positive house price growth, and zone six has seen the biggest rises of 2.3 per cent, compared to zone four which only rose by 0.8 per cent.

On average, zone six houses rose from from £480,000 to £490,000.

Property website Zoopla recently identified Swanley as being the nation's house price hotspot in commuter towns, with average house prices growing at a rate of nearly 11 per cent to £375,066.
