Armed robbers threatened staff at a Greenwich pub when they burst in after closing time demanding money.

The Ye Olde Rose and Crown pub in Nevada Street had shut after midnight on January 18 and a member of staff was inside with a friend.

Shortly after 12.30am they heard someone knocking at the door and opened it, assuming it would be another staff member who had forgotten something.

Instead three men burst into the pub, threatening the staff member with a gun and his friend with a machete.

According to Met Police, the worker was taken to an office, where he was forced to hand over a sum of money.

The suspects are then believed to have fled the scene in the direction of Gloucester Circus, possibly to an awaiting car.

Neither of the men were injured during the incident.

All three of the suspects are described as white men wearing dark clothing.

The man armed with the gun is described as around 5ft 9in wearing a dark grey or green fur-lined coat with a blur circular emblem on the arm, and Adidas tracksuit bottoms.

The man with the machete was wearing a black puffer jacket and grey jogging bottoms, with a red bandana under his hoodie.

The final man was around 5ft 7in, wearing a black puffer jacket, dark navy jeans and a grey or black rucksack.

There have been no arrests and police are appealing for information.

A spokesperson for Ye Olde Rose & Crown said: “We can confirm a robbery occurred at the pub after it closed one night last week. Fortunately, no-one was hurt during the incident.

"Our priority at this stage is support our team and to assist the police with their investigation.”
