Employers are being encouraged to book a slot at a council-run job fair in a bid to both grow their businesses and help people find new opportunities.

The Xcite Employment Fair, hosted by Harrow Council and expected to attract around 200 visitors, has posted its very own ‘wanted ad’ to promote its campaign for a more thriving borough.

It is seeking businesses in legal, digital, medical, beauty and IT to meet “likeminded individuals for potential job and training opportunities”.

Cllr Keith Ferry, responsible for business, planning and regeneration at Harrow Council, said: “The fair is a chance for employers to reach out and find the best people to take on.

“It is an opportunity for us to help Harrow businesses as well as support our residents in finding work and getting training.

“By putting likeminded people in touch we hope to make perfect work matches and get 2018 off to a great start.”

Since 2014, the council’s Xcite team has helped hundreds of people find a job and get into training.

It has also brokered more than 300 apprentices in Harrow and worked closely with learning providers to help businesses meet their needs.

The event takes place at Harrow Civic Centre on January 24 between 1.30pm and 6pm.
