Two of the four drivers believed to have been involved in a fatal hit-and-run where a Wandsworth woman was ‘left to die’ in Tulse Hill have been identified, according to police.

The 29-year-old victim was struck by two lorries and two cars in Norwood Road on December 11 and was pronounced dead by paramedics at 7.20am.

Detectives say they have established that the woman was struck by a lorry as she crossed the road at a pedestrian crossing, while the lights were green for traffic. The driver failed to stop at the scene.

Officers think that the woman was subsequently struck by a second lorry and two cars and that none of these drivers stopped at the scene.

Police said a 49-year-old - believed to be the motorist of the first lorry - has since been traced and interviewed under caution, while a 52-year-old - believed to be the driver of the second car - was arrested on December 12 and released under investigation.

A post-mortem examination on December 12 revealed a provisional cause of death as multiple injuries.

The victim has not been named at this time by the family as extended members have not been informed, but formal identification is yet to take place.

Enquiries into tracing those driving the second lorry and first car are still ongoing.

Acting Detective Sergeant Alastair Middleton said: “We want to hear from anyone who travelled from the South Circular junctions of Norwood Road going towards the junction of Brixton Hill between the hours of 6.30am and 7am on the day of the collision.

“We are particularly interested in any dashcam footage that may have captured some of the incident before or after the collision.

"We are also appealing for anyone who was passing and witnessed the collision and the moments afterwards to contact us immediately.

“I would urge the two drivers we are yet to trace come forward and speak with my team."
