All South Western Trains coming in and out of Waterloo have been cancelled due to a “small lineside fire” between the station and Clapham Junction.
Disruption is expected until 8pm.
Platforms 1 to 3 are currently not in use at Waterloo.
SWT said on its website: “Our control centre has received reports of a small lineside fire outside London Waterloo, this has affected the track circuits on three of the lines (a track circuit is the method that our signallers use in order to detect the presence of trains on the track) that have come into contact with a 650 volt cable.”
Trains between London Waterloo and Dorking, Hampton Court, via Teddington and Strawberry Hill, and Guildford are cancelled.
SWT said they are “sorry” for the delay.
Commuters were unsurprisingly frustrated.
If I leave work now what are my chances of getting to Hampton Court in time for Christmas?!

“Major disruption” business as usual then! I wonder if there will ever be a day where you tweet “no disruption at all. Everything running smoothly” 🤔
