DURSTON House School is this year supporting Ealing Food Bank in an unusual way.

As December was approaching, many of the boys were excitedly anticipating the arrival of their Advent Calendars, and looking forward to opening them.

Discussion began about what they would get – and it got the boys thinking.  Perhaps there were children in Ealing who wouldn’t be so lucky. Could they make a difference? They decided to set up a reverse Advent Calendar to donate food and gifts to the food bank.

Each day in December, during term time, a particular class is asked to give producce that will help less fortunate people have a more enjoyable Christmas.

It is collected by a parent volunteer and delivered to the food bank warehouse in Hanwell, where the donations are weighed, checked, sorted and distributed.
