Strangers have been making donations to replace an elderly lady's pension money after she was pushed to the ground and robbed in Nuxley.

Lily Stock, 84, was making her way home in Erith Road last Tuesday when she was attacked by a mugger who shoved her over and stole her purse.

The great-grandmother was left lying on the cold ground calling for help, and was only found after a neighbour happened to have her window open.

One of her grandchildren, Louise Floyd, has been trying to raise awareness about the "monster" who robbed and left her nan shaken up.

A Justgiving page has been set up to try and replace the stolen pension money - and more than £180 towards a £350 target has been donated to Ms Stock since the page's creation.

In statement on the donation page, organiser Kirsty Knopp, wrote: "Not only was she mugged, but the thief pushed her to the ground leaving her very shaken and vulnerable. Just trying to replace her money and possessions and show her there is some good left in the world."

As well as the money, Ms Floyd said the robber got away with sentimental items such as pictures of her nan's grand and great grand children.

Ms Floyd said: "The Justgiving is just to replace her pension and maybe raise enough to buy some flowers as well. She is still very shaken by what happened. It's just nice to know there are nice people out there.

"People don't know how this feels until it it happens to someone in your family.

"What kind of a monster, of a coward, would leave someone that old on the floor? What would they think if it was their parent?"

Fundraisers have left messages for Ms Stock on the Justgiving page, including: "Hope they get caught and you are ok."

Another said: "Absolutely horrific for what this poor lady went through and I hope the scum is caught."

The Met are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: "Police were called at 17:39hrs on Tuesday, November 7 to reports of a robbery in Erith Road, Nuxley.

"Officers attended and found the victim, aged in her 80s, injured.

"The victim had her handbag stolen and was knocked to the floor during the robbery. It is not known how many suspects were involved.

"Any witnesses or anyone with information should contact police on 101 or Tweet @MetCC.
