The people of Woolwich will be able to bust out their new pound coins as a new PoundStore is coming to town.

The bargain-based store is coming to Woolwich this weekend, opening its doors on Saturday, October 21.

The first 205 customers will be able to receive £1 Poundstore products, including a vacuum cleaner, faux leather bed, glass TV stand and a shaggy rug.

The new store will be at Beresford Square and will be opened at 10am when Mayor Peter Brooks cuts the ribbon.

To kick-start the grand opening, PoundStore have invited members of the Wide Horizons Charity to partake in a trolley dash, where they have 100 seconds to dash around the store and fill their trolley to win products as donations to their charity.

Gerry Loughran, managing director, said: “Woolwich is the tenth PoundStore to open, having recently opened stores in Stratford-upon-Avon, Evesham, Chertsey and, most recently, Bletchley.

“At each of these openings, people have started queuing from the early hours of the morning to grab our store opening specials. We have plans to open 25 stores this year nationwide, and next year we are planning 75 more.

“We believe that the UK customers want fantastic value for money at a £1 or less and we will offer that every day. We look forward to welcoming the people of Woolwich and serving them amazing value for money.”
