A man is in hospital suffering from memory loss after he was stabbed in the head in a "vicious attack" in Colliers Wood.

Police were called to the scene on September 1 just before 9pm to a fight on Chaucer Way.

Officers found the 25-year-old suffering from multiple stab wounds.

A doctor who happened to be passing by administered emergency first aid, and he was taken to a south London hospital where he remains.

The victim suffered head, back and arm injuries, and is suffering from memory loss.

Detectives investigating the case have released CCTV footage from a nearby store in Haydons Road just before the attack.

Police believe the man in the image could be a witness and insist he is not being treated as a suspect.

Detective Constable Andy Thornton, leading the investigation, said: “This was a vicious attack on a young man who faces a long recovery, and long-term rehabilitation.

"Had it not been for the doctor who came across the victim and gave medical assistance, the consequences could have been even graver.

“We are keen to trace the man pictured close to the scene around the time of the attack and who may have seen what happened, or the aftermath.

"If this is you, or you recognise this man, we would urge you to contact us as soon as possible.”

There have been no arrests, and enquiries continue.
