THE streets of Southall got a spruce-up last Saturday in a community clean-up day.
The aim was to bring together community groups and residents to help make the town a place to be proud of.
More than 50 volunteers helped with litter picking, general tidying and even planted Southall’s first Incredible Edible garden, in which plants will be publicly available when ready to pick.
The new garden at Southall covers several square metres of raised land near Southall Community College and will act as a pilot scheme for further gardens in the area.
Those helping out included members of Southall Sports Centre, Southall Community College, Berkeley Homes at Southall Waterside, the police cadets, Southall Transition, Southall Community Alliance and the Hope for Southall Street Homeless charity.
Virendra Sharma, MP for Ealing Southall, was also present, alongside the Mayor of Ealing.
