A woman who owns a dog grooming business has opened a new shop in Cheam after running the service from home for four years.

Scamps Professional Pet Grooming opened today, September 25, at its new facility based on Station Way in Cheam Village.

The reaction from people in Cheam has been “really positive,” according to owner Cathy O’Connell.

She added: “There is lots of barbers and things around here and it’s good for people to see something different.”

A dedicated site for the dog grooming service has been a long-time ambition for Cathy.

She told Sutton Guardian: “From working from home it’s just expanded and I’ve had to turn people away. The shop was set up to be able to do more business.”

As well as grooming services like a full dog wash and nail clippings – a boutique is present where dog collars, shampoos and dog colognes are for sale.

“Customers love the way their dogs smell from the colognes,” Cathy said.
