You may have heard of the tooth fairy, but how about the Penge conker fairies?

Emily Dew, 39, of Crampton Road, had never heard of the fairies either, until this morning.

Emily’s kids Freddie, 5, and Abbie, 3, love collecting conkers.

She decided to take the conkers her children found and make a display by lining them up on a wall outside her house.

But when she got up early yesterday morning (September 21), ready for the school run, she found a present outside her house.

A stranger had left a neatly wrapped box filled with pink fluff on her doorstep. A note attached to the box read ‘from the fairies.’

The family opened the box and found some conkers decorated with glitter and tiny stars.

Emily said: “It just shows there is a great community spirit in Penge and I’m really touched that someone spent that sort of time doing something to make us happy.

“My children love the conkers. They are all covered in sparkles. My kids are only five and three so they are the ideal age for stuff like that.

“They really think they are from the fairies. So do we of course! I’m very intrigued to see who the fairies are.”

Emily is keen to find out who left the present and written a post about the fairies on social media that has got over 100 likes. She thinks it might be possible to track down the kind stranger on Facebook.

She said: “Hopefully I’ll come across them so I can say thank you. It’s a social media hunt for the conker fairies!”

In case Facebook doesn’t work, Emily has a message for the conker fairies.

She said: “Thank you so much. You made my children’s day. Genuinely, thank you, it was such a sweet thing to do.”
