A band from Sidcup will be sharing the stage with an indie rock band at the 02 this week as part of a national battle of the bands competition.

Come in Silence beat thousands of entrants in an oline poll following regional heats at the Ye Olde Black Horse pub.

They have been selected as finalists for Greene King’s Live at your Local competition and will play alongside Razorlight competing with eight acts for a chance to win £5,000.

Razorlight, who are led by frontman Johnny Burrell, topped the charts in 2006 with America and are known for other hits like Golden Touch and In The Morning.

Come in Silence said: “We can’t believe we’ve made it to the finals of the competition! We didn’t think we’d ever have the opportunity to perform at a venue like the O2, especially alongside an iconic band like Razorlight – so we’re excited for the final and hope we win!”

If they win, the Sidcup band will be awarded their weight in beer and a day in a recording studio.

Their track will also be added to the playlist of more than 1,000 Greene King pubs.

Jack Travers, general manager at the Ye Olde Black Horse, said: “We’re delighted that a local musician has been selected as a finalist for our ‘Live at Your Local’ music talent competition.

“They blew our socks off with their performance so we’re hoping that they can make it all the way!”

The final of the competition will take place tomorrow at the Indigo venue at the 02.
