A pop-up structure in Erith has officially opened with a free garden party for the public.
Erith Lighthouse at the Riverside Gardens opened to the tunes of local musicians Phase 5 Steelband and Captain H and the Hi-Tones.
The Lighthouse will feature events all summer including 17 chefs taking residency to cook their own individual menus.
The mayor of Bexley, councillor Peter Reader, opened the lighthouse on August 10.
The garden party featured classic garden games and beers from the Bexley Brewery were on sale.
Greenwich Co-operative Development Agency provided food for guests who had come to see the opening.
The lighthouse was funded by the Mayor of London as part of Bexley’s Greater Erith Programme.
A spokesman for Bexley council said this is a: “Town centre regeneration programme that is enabling the creation of an active town centre that makes the most of Erith’s unique setting by the River Thames.”
Other events at the Lighthouse include a treasure hunt, beer tasting and a barter school.
