THEM is a strange little film.
At just over 70 minutes long, it's immensely short by today's film standards and, for much of it, there's not a great deal of action.
This Them is not to be confused with the 1954 one where nuclear tests in the desert result in the growth of gigantic mutant ants who menace American cities - that Them was just silly.
Allegedly based on true events, this Them tells the story of a blissfully content, young French couple living in a remote, rambling house in Romania when intruders take over their lives and bring terror into their home one night.
Plot-wise, there's not really much more that can be said about the film without giving away what was a quite chilling and shocking ending.
The horror of the film is not about what's being done to these innocent people, it's who's actually doing it.
This was undoubtably a cheap film to make but is effective, and even having to read the subtitles doesn't detract from the excellent ending.
