BE patient. When I saw the opening scenes of this film I thought the awfulness of Austin Powers was going to be inflicted on me. I had hoped for an engaging gay film but believed I was about to be swamped with a camp retro 1960s romp. I was wrong.
The film stars Sean Hayes from Will and Grace as a hopelessly romantic photographer.
Billy's Hollywood Kiss explores several gay tribulations: confusion about the adored's sensibilities, timidity in pressing claims on the person, rejection and the hurt that causes.
Hayes is good as the lead but several supporting actors and actresses make their voices heard in a well-rounded film.
