A man has reportedly been caught taking photos of young girls in the showers of a Bexleyheath leisure centre.

Crook Log Leisure Centre in Brampton Road came under fire on social media after an angry parent said they saw a man taking photos of two girls on his phone.

The parent claimed staff did not act when she reported her concerns after the incident yesterday afternoon.

In a Facebook post to the company she wrote: “Shocked to find out that having reported to you that a man was taking photos of young girls in your communal shower area you didn't even bother to report it to the police?

“What are your child safeguarding policies exactly? Manager couldn't even find the time to speak to me today and I was just asked to email him?

“Reported it to the police myself to hopefully catch this pervert and protect the children of Bexley as that doesn't seem to be a priority for Crook Log Leisure centre.”

A spokesman for the gym responded to the comment on Facebook.

They said: “Thank you all for taking the time to comment in relation to this incident.

“We hope that you can appreciate we are unable to release any specific detail regarding this incident that may impact on the ongoing investigation.

“We are able to confirm that we are assisting the Police with their enquiries. They have confirmed that we have dealt with the situation in an appropriate manner and they have also been complimentary in the way that it has been handled by Parkwood Community Leisure.

“We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that the only parties that are aware of what actions have been undertaken are the Police and Parkwood Community Leisure but we have acted in accordance with our procedures.

Police in Bexley arrested a 68-year-old man on suspicion of voyeurism on Monday.

He was interviewed and released without charge, and no further action will be taken.
