A missing puppy has been found in an old bomb crater.

Igor the Jug - a Jack Russell crossed with a Pug - escaped from a house on Marsala road, Ladywell at 6.30pm on Tuesday, 18.

His owner, going by the name of Rustem Rustem, 34, chased Igor down the street but could not catch him.

Mr Rustem and family members searched for Igor in vain until they saw a tweet that said a puppy was seen on Blackheath. They searched on the heath until it got dark at 10pm but were unable to find Igor.

That night there was thunder and lightning.

He said: "My wife did not sleep that night worrying about him being out there alone all night and at 5am I was up and driving from our home in Bromley back to Belmont Hill to start the search again."

The next morning Mr Rustem continued his search around Blackheath but then realised he had not checked the bombsite ditch near Granville Road.

Mr Rustem went and checked the ditch and found Igor, muddy and wet, at the bottom.

Mr Rustem said: “To say I was excited to finally see him again is the biggest understatement but that excitement quickly turned to worry as I feared he may be so scared he would run away from me.

"With his favourite treats I ran down the steep hill slipping many times in the wet mud. I finally got near him and managed to throw some treats his way and then I grabbed him.

"I then cried with such relief and happiness that we had found our little boy Igor and immediately called by wife (7am) she was also emotional to hear that I had actually found him safe and sound."

Igor only had a scratch on his stomach and his nose and after a check-up at the vets was sent home.
