Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at two garages in Beckenham early this morning (July 17).
One garage was "completely damaged" by the fire and a second garage sustained some damage.
A hedgerow and a fence adjacent to the two garages was also affected by the blaze.
The incident, which happened on Brangbourne Road, is said to have been caused by a discarded cigarette igniting rubbish.
One man left the premises before the London Fire Brigade arrived and was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service.
London Fire Brigade were called at 2.32am and the fire was under control by 4.25am.
