A new Men of the Wrythe memorial has been unveiled.

The memorial cross in Wrythe Green is in memory of 45 local soldiers who never returned home after the First World War.

MP for Carshalton and Wallington, Tom Brake, tweeted: "Very memorable & moving service yesterday to unveil the Wrythe War Memorial. We'll remember the men of the Wrythe who sacrificed their lives."

Conservative parliamentary spokesman for Carshalton and Wallington, MJ Maxwell Scott, said: “Today I joined Sutton Conservatives leader Tim Crowley and Conservative MP for Sutton, Cheam and Worcester Park, Paul Scully, at the unveiling of a new memorial on Wrythe Green.

“The unveiling was for a new World War One memorial cross and pays tribute to the residents of the Wrythe who fell during World War One.

“I would urge all residents to visit this new memorial and take some time to pause and reflect.”
