Students at the University of Greenwich receive high quality levels of teaching, according to a new government ranking.

Greenwich emerged as a Silver university in the new Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), which is a new system of assessment by the Government.

The government’s panel of assessors found that Greenwich students “achieve excellent outcomes” and enjoy “high levels of student satisfaction” with the teaching they receive on degree programmes.

Devised by the Department for Education, the TEF rankings give students clear information about where excellent teaching is on offer, and enable them to take their pick from gold, silver and bronze universities when they make applications.

Professor David Maguire, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, says the outcome is an “endorsement” for Greenwich’s talented and dedicated teaching staff. “

He said: “We are ambitious for every student who joins us. We are determined that we deliver world-class teaching, set high standards and equip our students with the knowledge, confidence and skills to succeed in their careers.

“One of the things that distinguishes the University of Greenwich is the value we add to students who study here.

“Students share our passion to learn, improve and achieve, and we are seeing more of our graduates going on to rewarding employment or further study."
