Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake has criticised the Conservatives after they yesterday announced a deal with the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) to form a minority government.

''It's a shoddy little deal,” Mr Brake told the Sutton Guardian. “It's clear that the nasty party is back, propped up by the DUP.”

He then used St Helier hospital as an example of where he believes government funding is required.

“While our schools are being squeezed, St Helier hospital needs investment desperately and our NHS is in crisis, Theresa May chooses to throw cash at ten MPs in a last ditch attempt to keep her Cabinet squatting in No 10,” he said.

Mr Brake continued: “Theresa May must make all the details of this agreement public immediately, so we can judge for ourselves if she is acting in the best interests of the country or of her own party.

“It's embarrassing that the local Tories and the MP in Sutton are desperately trying to justify this deal. Only the Lib Dems will put country before party.”
