Hungry customers lined the streets of Thornton Heath for the opening of a new KFC.
With the store giving away a free, limited edition t-shirt to the 100 customers, tensions were high.
One onlooker, who decided to avoid the hustle and bustle, noted the sluggish pace the queue was moving at.
“I was passing by just before 1pm there was people inside already,” Imtiaz Hussain said.
“(The line) was moving slow.”
One customer even had a bit of a scare.

After getting in line early, he was told he wouldn’t be getting the t-shirt he was entitled to.
Not to worry though, as everything worked out in the end.
Hi George, sorry about this. We had lots of people turn up! We have put one aside for you, please ask for Angelina.
