A cyclist has been taken to hospital after colliding with a vehicle in Surrey Street.

A witness at the scene reported that a black, seven-seater minicab and a cyclist collided on Wednesday (June 21) leaving the front wheel of the bicycle in a "badly bent L-Shape."

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 7.50pm on to reports of a road traffic collision in Surrey Street, Croydon.

"Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a car in collision with a cyclist."

The witness said paramedics "fixed a neck brace onto the gentleman in the middle of the High Street Road".

It was also reported that the cyclist suffered a broken collarbone as a result of the crash.

The Met spokesperson said the road re-opened at about 8.45pm."

The spokesman said: "The cyclist, believed to be aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"No arrests have been made."
