An opera-themed restaurant is to start a delivery service in Wandsworth which will literally be music to the ears.

TWID, a live music bar and restaurant in Battersea with tables that mimic 18 century theatre boxes, will send out delivery people who bring your order to the door- along with an entire minute of operatic singing.

Currently in the process of seeking “delivery talent”, the people at TWID are accepting video clips and will have X Factor-style auditions to pick the best of the bunch.

Toby Sims, who performs regularly at the restaurant and has collaborated with owner Peter Illic for 15 years, said people who apply should “feel comfortable performing in unexpected circumstances”.

He said: “We’re looking for new and wild talent.”

Mr Sims, who can be seen belting out an operatic tune in the video, has been singing since he was 16 and has quite a few tales to tell.

He spent six months performing in Serbia after Mr Illic set up a restaurant there.

He said: “I performed with a firework stuck up my bum which propelled my around the stage.

“I was handcuffed to a bed and whipped while I sang Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata.”

On why the folk at TWID chose to add a little opera to their delivery service, Mr Sims said: “We’re trying to draw people into something greater than everyday life.

“The grandeur, exuberance and energy of it will delight and surprise the recipient- and possibly the neighbours.”

An exact date for the delivery service’s launch has not yet been set, but anyone who thinks they are up to the task should send their videos to info@twid-restaurantbar.co.uk
