A bearded dragon was rescued from a fire in Mottingham that destroyed a car and damaged a house.
The car caught fire on the driveway in Cattistock Road and spread to a two-storey house.
Part of the ground floor of the house was damaged and the car was completely destroyed.
Station Manager Richard Arnold said: “When firefighters arrived they found a car fully alight which had spread to the ground floor house. Fire crews contained the fire to the lounge. The family – one adult and two children – had left the property before the Brigade arrived.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a bearded dragon called Joey. Thankfully he was unhurt.”
The Brigade was called at 12.27pm today and the fire was under control by 12.51pm.
Fire crews from Eltham. Bromley and Sidcup fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation
