Manga ***
FOR a film which promised "there can be only one" Highlander hasn't half produced a lot of spin-offs.
Lacklustre sequels, a patchy TV series, and a cartoon show have all followed the original tale of a Scottish warrior who discovers he's immortal.
This Manga/anime (that's Japanese for posh cartoon) version is in similar po-faced vein to all the others, but benefits from at least being refreshing in its style. And style is what this is all about, the plot being a predictable tale of revenge across the centuries, as Colin (yes, Colin!) MacLeod tracks down the Roman despot who killed his lover.
It's surprisingly enjoyable.
