Irresponsible pet owners could face hefty fines if they don't clean up their dog's poo or get them microchipped.

Those who don't get a microchip could be forced to pay £500 - while not cleaning up your dog's mess could see you £80 out of pocket.

Enfield Council’s cabinet member for community arts and culture Cllr Yasemin Brett, said: “Prevent this from happening by having your dog micro-chipped and keeping your contact details updated.”

To assist dog owners canine charity Dogs Trust is organizing free micro-chipping in Pymmes Park on the May 4 and Durants on June 10.

The days will include personal training advice on a one-to-one basis aimed at improving pet behaviour whilst neutering vouchers will be on offer for specific breeds.

Cllr Brett added: “These free events will have experts on hand to offer advice on training and behaviour.

“We want to enjoy the upcoming spring and summer months with the Enfield community – dogs included.

“Dogs, their owners and residents can all enjoy our fabulous public spaces but we want to help make sure that they peacefully co-exist by promoting responsible and respectful behaviour from our dog-owning population.

Session will be from 11am to 3pm with no appointment booking necessary.
