The drug dealer who supplied serial killer Stephen Port with date rape drugs he used on his victims has been spared jail.

Gerald Matovu, 23, pleaded guilty to supplying class B and C drugs in Southwark Crown Court in March.

Matovu supplied Port with Class B drug mephedrone – also known as ‘Meow Meow’ - and the class C drug GHB between July 1 and August 31, 2015.

Port, a 42-year-old chef, was sentenced to a life term in November last year for the murder of the four men as well as drugging and sexually assaulting another seven victims.

The serial killer was convicted of murdering Gabriel Kovari, from Lewisham, and former Dartford Grammar schoolboy Daniel Whitworth, from Gravesend.

He also killed Jack Taylor, from Dagenham, and Anthony Walgate, from Hull, who was studying at Middlesex University.

Matovu was sentenced today (April 26) to 12 months’ community service, 150 hours of unpaid work and 40 days of drug rehabilitation.

Phone records of Port’s show him contacting Matovu to buy drugs to use consensually with his partner.

In the messages, Matovu told Port he had “loads of G” and asked him how much he wanted.
