Campaigners slam Mayor Of London Sadiq Khan's 'ridiculous' approval of two towers 

Campaigners have slammed the Mayor of London’s decision to approve two “ridiculous” high-rise towers to reach affordable housing targets.

Sadiq Khan has approved plans to build 186 homes, of which 41 per cent will be affordable, in Palmerston Road, Wealdstone.

The application was originally refused permission by Harrow Council’s planning committee but is one of the first to be “called in” by Mr Khan as Mayor.

Man ‘angry’ after rubbish is continuously dumped in same street in Harrow for eight years

A man is “angry” that overflowing piles of rubbish have been dumped on a street by fly-tippers for more than eight years.

Nava Naren, who lives in The Highlands, near Burnt Oak, walks past bins filled to the brim with waste in Park Way every day.

The 54-year-old says this issue has been ongoing for years and despite constantly contacting Harrow Council to get it removed, litter is still being dropped in the same spot.

Regulars concerned after 200-year-old pub loses "unique" name

Regulars are concerned a 200-year-old pub may lose its “unique” charm by having its name changed.

The Case is Altered, in High Road, on the borders of Eastcote and Pinner, is being renovated by current owners City Inns Limited.

The Grade II listed building, which has been around since the 1600s but has been a pub for nearly 200 years, will reopen in April with a larger seating and serving area, as well as a new name.

GP surgery told to improve patient care

A doctor’s surgery has been told to improve after a report revealed it was not meeting care standards.

The Care Quality Commission was concerned Savita Medical Centre, in Spencer Road, Harrow, was not being well led due to its new practice manager not being provided with enough support or training opportunities.

The practice, which is run by Dr Mukesh Pandya, was also criticised for failing to protect vulnerable adult patients from abuse or neglect.

Principal of academy school thanks public for helping after 14-year-old pupil hit by car

The Principal of an academy school has thanked the public and emergency services for their help after a 14-year-old pupil was hit by a car.

A teenage boy was taken to St Mary's Hospital, in Paddington, after a collision in Church Road, at the junction with Parkfield Road, in Northolt, on Tuesday (March 14), just before 4pm.

He had multiple injuries, including those to his head and arm, but is now in a stable condition.
