Paramedics have treated a 16-year-old boy after he was stabbed in central Croydon.

Police were called to College Road to reports of a stabbing at about 12.25pm on Tuesday, March 14.

A “quick-thinking and well-trained” member of staff administered first aid to the boy until emergency services arrived, a spokeswoman for the college said.

He was then treated by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service (LAS) and the London Air Ambulance before he was taken to a south London Hospital.

His condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

A College Road worker, who did not want to be named, said: “Police cordoned off the road earlier and there was a party of people stood close to it.

“There were quite a few emergency vehicles with paramedics and police in them, but I didn’t see anybody running down the road away from where it happened. I’m not sure if it happened inside or outside the college, but it was calm outside.

“It’s pretty unusual, this (stabbing) isn’t particularly common around here and it’s nothing really to be concerned about. No one in the office is worried.

“We didn’t run out rubbernecking, we just let the police do their job.”

Croydon College counts England manager Gareth Southgate, Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding and Gormenghast writer Mervyn Peake among its alumni.

The LAS has been approached for comment.
