A mother had her head shaved to help provide transport for older people in the community.

Amrat Patel, who works at Harrow Community Transport, has so far raised £761 for the charity’s Community Car Scheme (CCS).

The scheme involves volunteer drivers using their own car to help older people who need help getting to the shops or to local events.

Ms Patel, who lives in Kenton with her four children, had her locks chopped on Friday, March 10, at the charity’s office, in Pinner Road, as she believes Harrow Community Transport “desperately” needs extra funding.

Ms Patel said: “I want to help raise much needed funds for the Community Car Scheme.

“I am glad to shave my hair for this charity, but I will also help The Little Princess Trust by donating my hair to them so that they can make real hair wigs for children who have lost theirs because of cancer treatment.”
