The scene on the night of stabbing in South Croydon

Police were called to reports of a stabbing at a home in Nottingham Road, South Croydon, on January 30 at about 9.40pm.

Officers and London Ambulance Service arrived to find a 24-year-old man, a supervisor at the party, suffering four stab wounds.

He was taken to a south London hospital for treatment before being discharged.

Shurleene Fraser, the victim’s sister, said her brother’s injuries could have been even worse if it had not been for the leather jacket her brother was wearing at the time.

She said: “He’s so lucky, because they tried to stab him in the heart.

"[The paramedics] pulled up his top… I have never seen wounds like that. It was like they were cutting meat.

“When it happens to you, it’s so surreal. It’s like watching a film. It’s different seeing the blood, the gore.”

A group of youths, who were not invited, refused to leave the party and when asked to leave began to cause a disturbance that led to the stabbing, officers have said.

Two knives were found outside the house and during another search of the surrounding area a third weapon was found.

Speaking to this website in the days following the incident, Peter Holness, the victim’s brother, said: "Some of the uninvited children got rowdy and started to push and shove the way through the door making a noise [and] acting in a disrespectful manner.

"A gang of kids rushed through the door and [stabbed] my brother five times.”

Mr Holness said he believed the gatecrashing teenagers were aged between 12 and 17 and attended two Croydon secondary schools.

Baddley-Allen was sentenced to 11 years imprisonment with four years on extended licence.

The 14-year-old was sentenced to four years and eight months with a three-year extended licence.

He was also sentenced on Friday, 3 March at the same court.

Detective Inspector David Bowen, from the Trident and Area Crime Command, said: "This case highlights the dangers that come from carrying a knife, and the sentences imposed are a reminder that violence of this nature will not be tolerated.

"The Met remains committed to tackling knife crime, and the recent phase of Operation Sceptre - our response to habitual knife carriers and associated knife crime - saw more than 260 arrests made and in excess of 110 knives seized.”

Badley-Allen was identified as one of the suspect and following lengthy enquiries to trace him. He surrendered to a police station and was charged on February 11 2016.

The second teenager was also traced by detectives and charged on April 12 last year.
