Teammates at a junior football club were presented with a new kit in front of thousands of spectators at Wembley Stadium.

Members of Headstone Manor Youth Football Club's Under 13 team won a competition held by Wickes, who are partnered with the English Football League (EFL).

They were picked to walk on the pitch at half-time, in front of a crowd of 90,000, during Sunday night's final between Manchester United and Southampton.

Club manager John O'Kane said: “It was a fantastic experience for Headstone Manor Hawks to walk out onto the Wembley pitch at the EFL Cup Final.

"To see the excitement on the children’s faces at winning this competition and to receive a new team kit was amazing to watch.

"I am sure that it is a day they will never forget. Grassroots clubs do not have the funding these days and have to recycle what they can, so it’s a great initiative from Wickes to reward local clubs in this way.”
