A SCHOOL chef shot dead in the street may have been killed in a road rage attack, police said on Thursday.

Carlos Eduardo Cegove Moreno, 23, was shot and killed as he visited friends in Holmes Court, Fletcher Road, Acton.

Now police are hunting for a silver Volkswagen Polo in connection with the gun murder last Friday night.

Police believe the killing may have been fuelled by road rage as Mr Moreno, who moved to the country from Sao Paulo two years ago, arrived at the flat on his moped.

It was previously reported in Brazilian media that the killing could have been drive-by shooting as a part of a revenge attack.

Police spokesperson Lynne Arnold said: "This could have been a road rage incident - this will be one line of enquiry.

"We won't say it was a drive-by because there's a chance it might be road rage.

"We are particularly interested if anyone knows about a silver VW Golf seen in the area at the time."

Carlos had spoken to his family just hours before he was killed, telling them he was having a greta time and was on his way to a party.

His family have been flown into the country by police to assist them with their inquiries.

Ms Arnold said: "We have provided financial support to bring them to the country to assist with the enquiry.

"As far as we are concerned it's much cheaper to fly them here than to fly a team of officers out there."

Tributes of flowers, photos and a Brazilian flag have been left at the scene of the murder.

Officers from the Specialist Crime Directorate, led by Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Mortimer, are investigating the shooting.

Police are keeping an open mind on the motive and are appealing for anyone with information to telephone the incident room at Belgravia Police Station on 020 7321 7228 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
