A child and four adults had to be rescued from a block of four maisonettes in Sidcup after a suspected gas blast ripped through them.
The blast happened at about 10.45am this morning (January 28) in Amberley Court, in Sidcup.
The explosion did not start a fire, London Ambulance Service said, but it did cause significant damage to the houses.
Photographs taken shortly after the blast show a number of emergency services workers and a police cordon.
One shows a hole in one of the houses’ roofs, with tiles caving in.
London Ambulance Service also arrived at Amberley Court, and fire crews stopped the gas supply.
Emergency crews from Sidcup, Eltham, Orpington and Bexley were called, and they had the area under control shortly after 12pm.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
