AN “utterly unacceptable” fight between warring West Ham and Arsenal fans outside a pub has ended in 45 years’ football banning orders.

Nine men were all found guilty to violent disorder for their part in a fight outside a pub in Islington following the Arsenal versus West Ham game in August 2015.

Bottles, tables, chairs and street furniture were all thrown during the fight, which broke out shortly after 7pm outside the White Swan pub, in Upper Street.

The crowd dispersed as police arrived at the pub, but no arrests were made at the time.

After checking CCTV footage of the incident, police identified and arrested a number of suspects.

Six West Ham United fans were convicted of violent disorder and sentenced on Friday, January 13, at Blackfriars Crown Court.

James Bevan, 40, of Grantham Road, Ilford, was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison and given an eight-year football ban.

Christopher Love, 28, of Virginia Close, Benfleet, Essex, was sentenced to 12 months in prison and handed an eight-year football ban.

Danny Butler, 38, of Colyton Way, Edmonton, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and handed an eight-year football ban.

Mark Gittins, 43, of Chesham Drive, Basildon, Essex, was sentenced to two years in prison and given an eight-year football ban.

The following three Arsenal fans were all sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for 18 months, at Blackfriars Crown Court on Wednesday, January 11.

Charlie Baker, 22, of Redhill Street, Regent’s Park.

Jack Bulley, 23, of Wanstead Park Road, Ilford, Essex.

Lee Bowering, 43, of Percy Road, Romford, Essex.

Detective Chief Inspector John Oldham said: "This group of men were involved in serious fighting and violent disorder outside a pub, behaviour that, quite simply, is totally and utterly unacceptable.

“Through our investigations, we have identified a large number of those responsible and they are now facing the very serious consequences of their actions.

"Those involved in the worst of the disorder are now facing lengthy custodial sentences and this should serve as a warning to other fans that this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated."
