A former Harrow library is going under the hammer early in the new year.

Harrow Council is also selling off Pinner Lodge, in Pinner Cemetery, as well as the former Rayners Lane library in Imperial Drive.

The decision to sell the properties was decided at a cabinet meeting in November, and Allsop estate agents will sell the property on the council’s behalf.

Councillors discussed keeping the buildings, but decided against maintaining the status quo as the council would need capital funding to undertake any development, according to a Property Disposal report.

Pinner Lodge will go on sale at a guide price of £400,000 to £450,000 next week.

The three-bedroom lodge is located right by the entrance to the Pinner Road, cemetery.

A former caretaker’s house, there are five rooms on the ground floor, with a garage and off-street parking.

The auction will be held next Friday, December 16.

Library campaigners were devastated when the Rayners Lane branch closed its doors for good in June last year. Since January, it has been used as a start-up work space operation by the Meanwhile Foundation charity.

The former library will be up for auction on February 15 next year.
