An unlucky commuter had a very unpleasant start to the day this morning after coming across a huge dead rat outside Morden station.
The man, who did not want to be named, photographed the lifeless rodent while he was waiting to catch his bus to work at around 8.10am this morning.
He said: “It nearly made me bring up my breakfast. It’s not what you want to see first thing in the morning. It was huge.
“It was in broad daylight and within walking distance of Merton Council. There are normally litter patrols around.
“Sadly, it’s a common sight around Merton.”
A spokeswoman for Merton Council said: "As soon as we were made aware of the rat, we got a crew on the case and I can confirm that they have removed the rat."
