North Harrow’s post office will be modernised to offer more services to its customers.

The service at the PO in Pinner Road, Harrow, will open on Wednesday November 1.

This refurbishment is part of a 'major programme' and is the biggest in the history of the Post Office.

Its opening hours which increase to an extra 47 hours, and will services will be available for longer on both Saturday and Sundays.

The branch will open from 9am - 5:30pm Monday to Saturday. A selection of the services will be available at the retail counter from 7am - 9pm Monday to Saturday and 9am - 6pm on Sunday.

The new service includes new mails services such as:

1. Sending international parcels

2. Special Delivery

3. Local Collect and home shopping returns

4. Make cash withdrawals from a Post Office Card Account

5. Send funds abroad using Moneygram

6. Pay bills, holiday money, insurance, mortgages and savings and top up mobile phones.

Manager Peter Wilkinson said: "We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

"We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.

"This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office."

The post office will close from 5.30pm on November 8.

During this time, customers can use the following services:

1. Rayners Lane Post Office, 413 Alexandra Avenue, Rayners Lane

2. Cannon Lane Post Office, 80 Cannon Lane, Pinner
