The final day of the 25th Surbiton festival passed off under sunny skies on Saturday.

Victoria Road was closed off for the traditional market and parade while St Andrew's Church hosted this year's SurboFoto, a display of stunning wildlife photos.

Stallholders also took over St Andrew's Road and Claremont Gardens.

Outgoing festival committee chairman Bob Noble said: "It has now a really solid following, it's a proper community event.

"The uniqueness is it's in suburbia, and not some village in mid-Sussex - to do that in suburbia is quite hard around London.

"You don't tend to have community links because of the transient nature of the place."

In its 25th year the festival now needs an injection of new blood, he added.

He said: "We need a few more individuals and groups to step up. It's simple things like the bands.

"We try to give some exposure to local groups and you can only do that if you've got people who are out there in pubs and clubs.

"It needs new impetus and ideas."
