Killjoy Corbynites have forced a Surbiton-based parody Twitter account to change its name after it poked fun at the group that exists to promote the Labour leader.
On Monday @MomentumSurb had racked up 500 followers for its series of sarcastic tweets the admins claim "parody the way some Corbynites talk".
After Surrey Comet article yesterday the account reached more than 800 followers but was forced to change its name to @MoanmentumSurb when people complained to Twitter.
One of the women who set up the account told the Comet: “Twitter emailed us last night to say it had a complaint and we must change our name and our bio to make it clear we're a parody account.
“This we have done. Not aware of other Momentum parody accounts being forced to do this. If we hadn't complied they'd have shut us down. [We were given] 48 hours to comply.”
Momentum is a grassroots Labour group that “builds on the energy and enthusiasm from the Jeremy Corbyn for Labour Leader campaign”.
The Surbiton account still claims it is the “best thing to come out of Surbiton since the A3”.
Momentum did not reply for a request to comment.
