A second car went up in flames in Lewisham over the space of just six hours.

The vehicle caught fire just after midnight in Shooters Hill Road, Blackheath, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky.

London Fire Brigade sent one fire engine from East Greenwich and firefighters had the blaze extinguished within half an hour.

Lewisham police said the road was closed in both directions while firefighters tackled the blaze.

The fire in Blackheath comes after a car burst into flames in Catford less than six hours earlier.

A car in Boundfield Road was engulfed in flames when police and firefighters arrived on the scene at around 7pm.
