PLANS for a hot food takeaway on the site of Southampton’s former Ordnance Survey offices have been filed with the city council.

Domino’s Pizza has applied to create the new takeaway in a unit previously earmarked for a cafe or retail unit at the site in Romsey Road.

If approved, the company would install a new shopfront at the unit as well as altering its side elevation and adding extraction and ventilation equipment.

The unit is under construction and is set to be completed in October.

The site already contains a Tesco Express and almost 400 new homes have been built on the site of the former William Roy Building.

The complex, which once housed 5,000 workers as the headquarters of mapmaker Ordnance Survey, was knocked down in 2012.

OS has since moved to state-of-the-art new offices in Adanac Park in Nursling on the edge of Southampton.

Construction giant Kier, which bought the new OS headquarters, bought the former site in Romsey Road and has since turned it into one of the city’s biggest new housing developments.
