Firefighters fought back flames at a New Malden bungalow for more than 12 hours last night.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
An investigation into how the end terrace fire in Bazalgette Gardens started is now underway.
Four engines from New Malden and Kingston fire stations were called to the quiet cul-de-sac at about 6:45pm.
A middle-aged couple had already left the home before firefighters arrived.
A New Malden firefighter said: “It was quite a developed fire and the crews worked extremely hard. There is a lot of damage to the property.
“The investigation is ongoing. There is no inkling of how it started. A lady and a gentleman had left the bungalow before we arrived.”
