A cyclist who died in hospital 11 days after being hit by a car near to Mitcham Common has been named by police.

John Still, 67, from Lambeth, was hit by a blue-coloured Peugeot 307 in Madeira Road shortly after 5pm on Tuesday, April 19.

Emergency services, including the London Air Ambulance, rushed to the Common and Mr Still was taken as a priority to a south London hospital. He died in the hospital on Saturday, April 30.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and has not been arrested.

An inquest into Mr Still’s death was opened and adjourned at Westminster Coroner’s Court on Monday, May 9. A date for the inquest has not yet been set.
