A POLICEMAN has warned park users to supervise children while a man who attacked a young girl remains at large.

PC Darren Brand issued the warning after a young girl was attacked in Pimp Hall Park in Chingford, on Sunday (July 24).

He said the young girl was with friends in the park when a man described as black and in his 40s dragged her into the bushes at around 5pm.

Fortunately, she was able to "make enough noise and resistance" for the attacker to run off.

Police attended and found a knife in the area where the incident happened but could not find any trace of the assailant.

PC Brand said: "For the foreseeable future I would recommend that you do not allow your children to attend this park unsupervised.

"Be aware this suspect is still outstanding."

The Metropolitan Police and Waltham Forest MPS have been contacted to release further details of the investigation and the attacker.

More to come.
